Eye Doctors Tampa - Vision Care from optometrist Dr. Teske - New Tampa Eye Doctors

Hi,  I’m Dr. Sam Teske. .Thank you so much for visiting our website and your interest in The Eye Doctors of New Tampa and The Eye Doctors of Trinity.  We officially changed our name and changed ownership in November 2007 from Sterling Vision Center to The Eye Doctors of New Tampa and The Eye Doctors of Trinity.  Since taking over we have tripled our frame inventory and brought state of the art diagnostic equipment to the practice.  We love helping people see better and educate everyone how to maintain that great eye health and sharp vision.  While we are proud to be a leading retailer of quality eyewear, it's our optical services and great customer care from our staff that is valued by our patients from all areas of Tampa.

Please feel free to give us a call anytime, one of our fully trained friendly staff members is there to help you.

New Patients

We ask all new patients to The EyeDoctors to please print and fill out our new patient paperwork and bring it in for their exams. This paperwork can be found here.

Established Patients

Although we keep all records from previous appointments, we do ask that patients returning to our office for their annual exam provide us with updated demographics. You may find paperwork here for patients who have already been seen at our office.

What should I take with me to my eye exam?

It is important to have some basic information ready at the time of your eye exam, including recent knowledge of family eye history and personal eye or medical history. Please bring the following information to the office for your exam:

  • Established or new patient paperwork, found here.
  • Any eye glasses you currently use, including any over the counter reading glasses
  • Any contact lenses that you currently use, or a written prescription for those contact lenses.
  • A list of medications, vitamins, and/or supplements you currently take
  • Any questions or concerns you have for the doctor.

What should I expect during my eye exam?

Here at The Eye Doctors, we make it our goal to provide the most comprehensive eye examinations possible. To ensure the best care, please allow up to two hours in our office, which will include exam time as well as working with our optician or technicians regarding glasses or contact lenses.

We do occasionally dilate patients during their eye exams to examine the back of the eye, which can cause light sensitivity and blurriness for up to five hours. Some patients prefer not to drive during that time, although most patients can continue their normal activities as long as they have sun protection. Please keep that in mind when booking your appointment, as some patients prefer to have a driver accompany them to their exam. We do offer the Optomap retinal exam as well, which may be done in place of dilation. Please see our services page to view more details.

Our front desk staff will be able to explain your insurance information before your appointment. It is helpful for them if you update your insurance information when scheduling the appointment, so that they may authorize those benefits before your appointment time.

The Eye Doctors has several technicians and opticians to help and educate patients on different options for contact lenses and eye glasses. Our technicians will run various pre-tests before you are seen by the doctor, and will also help with dispensing your contact lenses. After your exam, our expert opticians will guide you through the complicated process of picking the right frame and lens selection for you.
